Voyager Academy Elementary School News, Sept. 29, 2019

Hello to All!
We are really in full speed ahead mode and teachers and kids alike are working hard.  Thanks to all of the K parents who came out for curriculum night this week.

Information:

Teachers are continuing to be trained on Istation and assessing our students.  Parent conferences are taking place on Friday of this week.  Teachers will schedule any parents on Monday after school who could not attend on Friday.

Classrooms:  Two grade levels are on field trips this week.  The K students traveled to Greensboro to the museum.  Second grade took a short trip to Ninth Street to study diversity going to the Bull City Fair Trade.  Thanks to all of the parents who served as drivers and chaperones.  Next week third graders will go to Duke Gardens and continue studying plants.  What a beautiful venue to do so.

Thanks:  Many thanks to all of the kind and generous parents who relieved teachers during lunch in order for the teacher and teacher assistants to enjoy an adult lunch.  It goes without saying how much we appreciated all of the food, servers and your time to provide us with such great lunches each month.

Science Olympiad:
Dear Parents,
We are pleased to announce that many parents responded to the sign-up for science olympiad instruction.  We have at least 60 students being served in the fall and 60 plus more in the spring.  Thanks for your responses.  The kids will learn so much!

Lock Down Drill
We had our first lock down drill of the year yesterday (Thursday).  I was pleased with the results.  During the drill, we always look for ways to fine tune our process and yesterday was no exception.  We were very proud of how quiet the students remained during the drill.  It went very well. Just know that we will always do whatever is necessary to keep our students and staff safe.
