Friday was an extremely busy day at VAMS! We had lots of scheduled parent conferences. It was great seeing so many of our parents attending conferences. I also had the opportunity to attend several of the conferences which is great for me as I learn more about our students.
The 8th Grade Team traveled to New Bern, N.C. on Thursday to visit Tryon Palace, a state historical site. Tryon Palace is the former home of Governor Tryon, North Carolina’s 8th royal governor during the colonial period. Students went on a guided tour of the palace, visited the onsite museum and listened to a guest speaker who “arrived” from the 1770’s to describe his way of life. The event kicks off our 8th grade social studies project titled Dreams of Democracy: The Legacy of the U.S. Constitution.
National Junior Honor Society Service Project
Thanks to all of you who have donated food to our Food Drive for Urban Ministries sponsored by National Junior Honor Society. The last day of our drive is Tuesday, Oct. 1. If we all bring one can of food, we will have 530 cans. Information regarding the Food Drive is on the poster below created by one of our National Junior Honor Society members!
