Bright Ideas is a grant sponsored by Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation and awarded to schools. Voyager Middle School’s 6th graders have received one of the Bright Ideas grant, thanks to Mr. Price and Mrs. Miller! The money from the grant will be used to build a greenhouse in their community garden. Be on the lookout as the work will begin very soon! Needless to say, that all are very excited!

Representative Craig Horn
Last week we had the privilege of having Representative Craig Horn visit Voyager Middle School. Representative Horn spent time with a 6th grade Core Connections class and a 5th grade Social Studies class. After spending time in the classrooms, Representative Horn and I spent time talking about Voyager, charter schools, public schools, along with other educational topics. I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the knowledge Representative Horn has regarding education.
We learned on Thursday that Representative Craig Horn will be returning to Voyager Middle School. During his next visit he will spend time in Mrs. Easterly’s 5th grade social studies class. From what I understand, Mrs. Easterly is going to have him working with students!!!!!
Book Fair
The Book Fair is back and is available to students from Oct. 28 – Nov. 1! There are lots of great books at the Book Fair!
Soccer, Cross Country, Tennis, and Volleyball
Our fall sports are coming to an end! I am very proud of our teams. Not only were they successful when playing, they were great representatives of VAMS. The students displayed great sportsmanship no matter the outcome of the game/match/meet.
Our volleyball team began tournament play on Friday at East Wake. The girls played hard and there was much energy displayed. Their play was great taking East Wake to 3 sets. On the third set, they fell a little short!
Our soccer team begins tournament play next week! Their first game will be at Voyager so be on the lookout for dates and times so you can come support the team.
Thanks to the coaches, parents, and spectators for the support provided to all of our teams!
Fall Picture Retakes
Our fall picture retake date is Oct. 28.
