Frequently Asked Questions:

  1.  Does my child need to wear a mask to school each day?  Yes, please provide at least two masks per day in case the mask breaks during the day.

  2. Can my child wear a gator mask?  No, the gator masks do not provide as much protection as a cloth, tight fitting mask.

  3. Can I drop off my middle school student at the elementary school during morning drop off?  No, only elementary students may enter the elementary building.

  4. Should my child bring a water bottle to school?  Yes, we are asking for each student to bring a water bottle to school each day.  Please make sure the student’s name is on the water bottle.

  5. Do I need to utilize the Greenlight App?  If your child is coming to in person learning, we will need you to use the Greenlight App.  Parents will need to show the student has been cleared on the app each morning.  This will happen in the car line before the student is allowed to enter the building.  If a parent has not completed the health screening (on Greenlight) before arriving at school, it will slow down the process of getting students admitted into the building. Thank you for completing this each morning.

  6. Do I need a car line sign?  Yes, you should have received a RED car line sign in your February 19th packet.  If you do not have a RED car line sign, please call the school office and we will assist you.

  7. Will the staff heat lunches?  We are not able to heat student lunches during this school year because of COVID restrictions.

  8. What time is afternoon pick-up?  Car line will begin at 2:45 each afternoon.  Because a portion of our students are learning from home, car line is faster than normal.  Please be in place on time.

  9. What do I do if I am late arriving at school one morning?  If you are late arriving to campus (after 7:45 am) then you will need to park and bring your child to the front of the school.  Please ring the bell and we will come outside to check in your student.  Please do everything you can to arrive at school on time.  The way the day begins highly affects the rest of the day for a student.  Let’s set them up for success.

Mark You Calendar Now:  The majority of the VAES staff will be receiving their 2nd COVID vaccine shot on March 24.  Because of this, remote learning will be held for all students on March 25-26.  Voyager will not be offering before or after school care on these two dates.  The students will have assigned remote lessons to complete on this day (no small groups).  This will be an asynchronous learning day to be prepared in case a large portion of the staff is not feeling well.  We wanted to make sure you had a good amount of time to obtain child care for these two days.

Thank you Reggie Oakley:  One of our amazing Voyager parents, Mr. Reggie Oakley provided lunch for the entire elementary staff on Friday, March 5 as a way of thanking them for a wonderful first week of in person learning.  Thank you Mr. Oakley, you made our day!

What Do I Do If My Student Has Been Exposed To Someone with Covid:  If an K-3 student has been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID, please call the school or email Mr. Manning and we will talk you through the details of how long you may need to quarantine.  Please complete the Greenlight App, because it will automatically give you a date where you will be allowed to return to school.

Greenlight App:  It is imperative that all Voyager families set up the Greenlight App. Please set up your Greenlight account today and complete the survey daily for each child even while your children are learning remotely.  We will use this data and input to ensure we are ready for reopening safely. The links to set up your account are below.

ACTION NEEDED:  Directions and links to set up your Greenlight Account

Setting up your account is simple.  Select the link below and enter the email address you use to receive Voyager newsletters. Families with multiple children can select any school their children attend.  Once your account is set up you will see all of your children associated with your account and be able to complete the daily health screening for each of them. After you complete your first survey you will see the Greenlight pass cleared indication.  We will have students select that option to show the larger pass during car line for screening along with their temperature check.   Each student will be able to show their Greenlight pass to ensure they are healthy and can attend school.  The app also provides support for families that need access to health care, testing, or additional community resources.  Please select the link below to set up your family account now.
