Voyager Academy Elementary School News, April 2, 2021

VAES Family Update: On behalf of the entire elementary staff, we want to wish you and your family a wonderful Easter and an amazing Spring Break.  We hope you are able to create some life-long memories and will then be ready for the last 7 weeks of school!

Spring Break Here We Come:  Can you believe that it is time for SPRING BREAK?  Voyager will be closed for students and staff April 2-April 9.  The staff will not be monitoring emails during this period of time.  Thank you for understanding the teachers/staff will be on break.

Where Is My CarLine Sign?:  If you will be NEW to in person learning on April 12, you probably do not have a RED CARLINE SIGN.  Never fear, when you arrive for the afternoon car line on April 12, we will give you your car line sign at that time.  The sign should then always be in your car (on the driver side) so that we can easily type in your child’s unique id number.

Spring Picture Day is Coming to Voyager:  Strawbridge Studios will be a Voyager Elementary on April 20th to take individual spring photos.  Mark your calendar now and more details will be coming to you after spring break.

Science Olympiad Update:  Our Junior Varsity Elementary Science Olympiad Team (1st-3rd graders) did a great job at the regional tournament! Together they competed in 10 science related events and medaled in 4 of them! It’s even more impressive considering the tournament didn’t have enough JV teams to group them together, so our JV team had to go against the other varsity teams instead (who typically have mostly 4th & 5th  graders)! We are so proud of the work these students put into learning and competing in their events: Elise Lemm, Ella Ritter, Arianna Snipes, Phoebe Oakley, Connor Markham, and Thaddeus Robinson.

CarLine Update:  Beginning April 12, the Voyager carline is going to double in size.  How can you help?

  • Please be patient and please be kind

  • If some of you would arrive each morning between 7:15 and 7:30, that would help our traffic flow.

  • If you have an elementary student and a middle school student, we ask that you arrive (in the afternoon) at 3:00 so that you do not end up getting into the middle school car line lane too early--this will cause a back-up of traffic for all schools.

  • Please have your red carline sign in our window.

  • Each morning, please make sure your children are ready to exit the car as you pull up to your drop off zone.

Voyager K-5 Begins Plan A on April 12:  Voyager Academy will be ready to greet all students who selected Plan A on April 12.  Remote instruction will also be available for the students/families who selected to stay remote for the remainder of this school year.  PLAN A MEANS THAT STUDENTS WHO SELECTED IN PERSON INSTRUCTION WILL BE COMING TO SCHOOL 4 DAYS PER WEEK (WEDNESDAY WILL BE A REMOTE LEARNING DAY FOR ALL STUDENTS).

A Few Details About April 12:

  • Students and Staff must wear a mask to school each day.

  • Families are asked to complete the Greenlight Health Screening each morning.

  • Temperature checks will be conducted each morning.

  • Handwashing times and frequent sanitation will continue throughout the school day.

  • Students will be discouraged from sharing school supplies.

  • Students will have 15 minutes of unmasked time to each lunch and then masks will need to be reapplied.

  • Middle school students may NOT be dropped off at the elementary school during morning car line.  Middle school students must be dropped off at their building.

  • Car line begins each morning at 7:15 and concludes at 7:45.  If you arrive on campus after 7:45, you are late and you will need to come to the front entrance of the school to check in.  PLEASE TRY TO BE ON TIME SO THAT STUDENTS BEGIN THE DAY IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE.

  • We are getting ready to double the amount of cars that have been in the car line.  Please arrive during the 7:15-7:30 time if possible.

  • Afternoon car line will begin at 2:45 and will conclude at 3:10.  Please be patient as we will be doubling the number of cars in the afternoon car line.

  • Please have your children ready to exit the car as you pull up to the drop off point, during morning car line.

Greenlight App:  It is imperative that all Voyager families set up the Greenlight App. Please set up your Greenlight account today and complete the survey daily for each child even while your children are learning remotely.  We will use this data and input to ensure we are ready for reopening safely. The links to set up your account are below.

ACTION NEEDED:  Directions and links to set up your Greenlight Account

Setting up your account is simple.  Select the link below and enter the email address you use to receive Voyager newsletters. Families with multiple children can select any school their children attend.  Once your account is set up you will see all of your children associated with your account and be able to complete the daily health screening for each of them. After you complete your first survey you will see the Greenlight pass cleared indication.  We will have students select that option to show the larger pass during car line for screening along with their temperature check.   Each student will be able to show their Greenlight pass to ensure they are healthy and can attend school.  The app also provides support for families that need access to health care, testing, or additional community resources.  Please select the link below to set up your family account now.
