Voyager Academy Middle School News, May 28, 2021

Wow, I cannot believe that school is out for the summer!  Even with all the bumps in the road, this was a great year!  We had lots of learning take place, several projects created, learned lots about technology along with a variety of strategies to support our students.  One is never too old to learn and it is never too late to make changes for the good of our students.

Parents, I can’t say THANK YOU enough for all the support you provided your children/our students along with the support you provided our teachers.  One thing that I have learned about Voyager parents is that if you know what is needed regarding your child’s learning process, you will certainly make sure it happens.  Thanks!

On Tuesday, May 25, our students enjoyed cheering during the Senior Parade!  The Senior parade began at the high school then to the elementary school and then to the middle school.  It was AWESOME and so exciting to see former 8th graders. Oh how they have grown!

I also had the privilege of attending High School Graduation at the Orange County Speedway and I have to say that was also AWESOME, as again, I had the opportunity to see former 8th graders. What a fun afternoon!

Report Cards

Yes, your child will receive a 4th quarter report card.  Due to schedule changes, etc.  it took a few extra days to get the correct information and grades entered into PowerSchool so report cards could be printed.  You may also check PowerSchool.

Report Cards have now been printed and I am in the process of signing the last group.  We were also hoping to receive our Math EOG student reports for grades 4-8 along with 5th and 8th grade Science EOG student reports.  We received them yesterday (Thursday) so we will mail you the Report Cards and include the EOG reports.  Remember it’s a renorming year for English Language Arts so we have not received these reports and it could be August/September before we receive ELA reports.

Loaner Computers

Help, we have not received all of the   loaner computers that were provided for this school year.  We really need all of the loaners retu.  You may drop off the loaner during the school day. Make sure you also bring the charger!

You may drop off at the middle school next week Tuesday - Thursday during the hours of 9:00-2:00.  The following week you may drop off the loaners Monday - Thursday from 9:00-2:00.

We really need these loaners ASAP so we can do maintenance if needed.

In addition to the loaners, please bring the charger.

When Do We Return to School for the 2021-2022 Year

The first day of school for the upcoming school year is Thursday, August 5. This is a VERY important day and we need our students at school on the first day.  Our school funding is based on Day 1 Attendance.  Please schedule your vacations, trips, etc. around August 5 as we need your child at school on Day 1 !  We really want to see them and we also receive funds based on our Day 1 enrollment. We need your help on this one!

Some of you have asked if completion of work on the first day counts as being in school and it does not count as being in school (that was only during COVID).    We really need students in the building on Day 1 and all the remaining days also!

More 21-22 Calendar Information

As we prepare to close out the 2020 – 2021 school year we are already actively planning ahead for the start of the 2021 – 2022 school year.  The calendar committee met to review the previously approved calendar to identify if any changes were recommended.  At this time, we are planning to move forward with our current 2021-2022 calendar which is posted on our website.   We are planning for in person instruction for all students Monday through Friday and are not planning to offer a remote option.  Please remember that the Voyager calendar has a built in early release day each Monday to allow for staff professional development and collaborative team planning in the afternoon.  After school care will be available on the Monday early release days for students who register.

The middle school hours on Mondays are 8:15 - 1:15.  The tardy bell rings at 8:15 and dismissal begins at 1:15.
