From the Voyager Academy Managing Director, Sept. 17, 2021

Dear Voyager Community,

It was a great week at school as our students continue to shine and work hard.  Students are learning important life skills as they demonstrate critical thinking and collaboration while they work on projects and classroom activities. Walking through classrooms our students are engaged in their lessons and focused on their learning goals.  It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the first quarter already.

I wanted to thank all families for their contributions to the Step It Up! Fall Fundraiser.  Your generosity has helped the elementary and middle school raise over $50,000 to support school initiatives.  The schools will be recognizing and celebrating our students during the Day of Awesomeness on October 8, 2021. We are also very grateful to our PTO for starting a Go Fund Me account to support Voyager’s initiatives to expand outdoor eating and learning spaces. We are in the process of getting quotes and evaluating the logistics for installation of shade spaces and picnic tables.

As I shared in an earlier newsletter, we are in the renewal process for our accreditation with Cognia. The Cognia accreditation and certification process uses research based performance standards as a framework to achieve measurable school improvement. The process this year will all be conducted remotely and consist of a review of school provided evidence along with surveys and interviews of all stakeholder groups. The school accreditation team is working to gather evidence demonstrating Voyager’s strengths with the expected standards. Earning our renewal for accreditation is an important strategic goal for Voyager to ensure continuous school improvement and growth.

Family input is an important part of the process to assess how well we are doing with engaging families and building a strong school community.  Please complete the two Cognia created surveys that are needed as part of the review process. One survey will measure family engagement and the other survey measures culture and climate for our school. Student, teacher, and staff surveys are also being shared to gather additional input into the process. Please complete the family engagement and culture and climate surveys by September 30, 2021. We are striving for 100% family participation. The surveys are linked below for your convenience.

Thank you for your continued support and the trust you have in our team to help your child grow and learn to reach their potential. Feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher, building administrator, or student support if we can assist your family in any way.  Please review the information below for upcoming events and additional resources.

Have a wonderful weekend!
