Dear Voyager Community,
What a wonderful and busy week on campus! Voyager is alive with energy, learning, and laughter. Teachers and students were so excited to be back together. And we are so very excited to welcome many new families and staff to our school community. Students and staff are getting to know one another and digging into the plans and educational journey for the year ahead. We are thankful for the partnership with our PTSO. They hosted the Back to School Bash last weekend and have planned for a Voyager spirit night at Tutti Frutti tonight. These are great opportunities to meet and connect with other Voyager families. We look forward to having many parent volunteers in the year ahead to support our school.
This week we had 14 new interactive boards installed at the elementary school which will increase student engagement and involvement in their lessons. We’re also looking forward to finishing the elementary school playground installation and starting the installation of an 8 seat swing set and 4 basketball hoops at our Middle School next week.
We are all here to support your child grow, learn, and find their passion. Feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher, building administrator, or student support if we can assist your family in any way. Check out the upcoming events and all the updates below from our School Nurse, Student Support Team, Operations Manager, and Athletic Director below.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy 1st Friday of the 2022-2023 school year! I was so excited to see all of the smiling faces back on campus during this fun and exciting week. For those who may not know me, I am Chelsea Skoff, the K-12 school nurse here at Voyager Academy. Prior to making a career change into nursing, I was one of the Physical Education teachers at Voyager Academy Middle School and the girls Varsity Volleyball coach at Voyager Academy High School. It goes without saying that Voyager Academy, its students, teachers, and school community have been an incredible part of my life. Prior to coming (back) to Voyager, I worked as a psychiatric nurse at Duke Regional Hospital. My favorite part of being a school nurse is developing relationships with our students and their families and providing school-based nursing care as students grow throughout their educational journeys. I am looking forward to a great year caring for your students!
Highlights and reminders for this week include the Medication Authorization form and Health Plans. Even if your student had a plan on file last year, new form(s) are required for each school year. **Please note that you will need to have your student’s HEALTHCARE PROVIDER authorize and sign both the HEALTH ACTION PLAN and MEDICATION AUTHORIZATION FORM before sending it in.
If your student needs these forms for the 2022-2023 school year, they can be found on the Voyager Academy website > Parent Resources > Documents and Forms. Once completed, you can email the forms to cskoff@voyageracademy.net or have your student bring them to school and turn in at their building’s front office.
Stay tuned each week to the “Nurse’s Corner” section of Mrs. Schollmeyer’s Managing Director Update for announcements, notes, and all things health! Wishing you and your students a fabulous start to the new school year!

The Titan Family Portal and LINQ Online Ordering system work together like a checking/ debit card account. All student lunch accounts must be preloaded with funds for ordering. Parents then order lunches for students based on the funds availability in their Titan account. Families who have a negative balance on the account will no longer be permitted to order lunch online. Please be sure to send your student(s) to school with lunch if no meal was ordered. If your student's lunch account currently has a negative balance, we please ask that you pay this balance as soon as possible by either form of payment:
Online at https://family.titank12.com There is a $2.80 flat fee charged by the bank per deposit online. (Example: $100 deposit + $2.80 fee = $102.80)

Welcome! Please join the Student Support Services Team in welcoming Ms. Savannah Purdy! She will be supporting students in the Middle and High school buildings as our newest School Counselor! Ms. Purdy brings with her a bubbly personality, a passion for serving and assisting others with their wellness, an energy for positive change and opportunity, and a desire to create a warm, inviting, and fun atmosphere! We are SO excited to have her join our Team and share her knowledge and skills with us as well!
Welcome back, Vikings! Our high school athletic season kicked off on August 1and all our high school teams are in full swing. Men’s soccer had their first scrimmage on August 10th at the Durham School of the Arts. The team lost 1-3, with a goal scored by senior Josiah Smith with an assist from sophomore Micah Smith. The team is back in action when they travel to Granville Central High School this Saturday for a day-long soccer jamboree. To get all the latest scores and game wrap ups, please be sure to visit our new athletic website VoyagerVikings.com
Middle school athletics are just starting to get their tryouts going. Volleyball got things started on Thursday, August 11th with their workouts. Other team tryouts are as follows:
Please make sure that your child is registered for athletics and has a valid physical uploaded in our system prior to tryouts.
In other news lot’s of new happenings in our athletic department. Both the middle and high school gymnasiums have been repainted. Championship banners have been hung in the high school gym and our middle school championship banners should be arriving any day now. We also installed a beautiful glass trophy case in front of the middle school gym to show off all of their amazing hardware! We are in the planning stages of creating new display cases for our high school athletic trophies as we ran out of room in our current trophy cases (this is a problem I’m okay with having). As mentioned earlier, we now have a new athletic website along with new social media accounts. Some of our athletes had very busy summers with their travel teams and we were able to share some of their great games and tournaments over our accounts. Be sure to follow us to stay up to date with scores, announcements, and schedule changes.

There are more exciting updates in the works that I will be sharing with everyone soon. In the meantime, please check our athletic webpage and social media accounts for the latest news. As a reminder, Voyager Academy does not charge an athletic fee for students to participate. However, we are greatly appreciative of contributions of any size to help supplement our budget for our athletic programs at the middle and high school.
