Welcome Back
“Normal” That seems to be the overwhelming feeling among students and faculty at the high school. And it’s a great feeling. Although we began in person last year, we were still feeling the effects of the pandemic. Not this year. There’s definitely an enthusiasm in the air at VAHS, as we begin the new school year!
Car line
Thank you so much for your patience with carline. As happens every year, it settles into a good routine after a week or so.

9th Grader/New Student Orientation a Success
This year we were able to resume our tradition of the 9th Grader/New Student Orientation Sleepover. On August 5th, the high school hosted an Open House for parents and rising 9th graders, where they walked through their student’s schedule to meet teachers. This was followed by the Orientation sleepover.
We believe that freshman orientation is one of the most important high school experiences that a Voyager Viking will have, as it provides him/her with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to get off to a good, solid start.
Orientation consists of activities, games, discussion, and general exploration. Upper-class student volunteers led discussions (guided by faculty), in both large groups and small groups. They helped field any questions that freshmen may have. Among the topics covered are Canvas (our learning management system), sports/clubs and groups at VAHS, helpful study skills, school culture, expectations, success tips, and more.
And a big hit this year was the Chocolate Fountain (for after dinner)...

Open House for 10th-12th Graders This Monday Aug. 15
VAHS Open House, for grades 10 - 12 only, takes place on the evening of August 15, from 6:00pm to 7:15pm (grade 9 had their Open House on Aug. 5). The Open House will be virtual, based on parent feedback and higher levels of attendance. Students and parents/guardians will receive links on Monday. This is your chance to meet your VAHS student’s teachers, and get some important information about classes, as you walk through an abbreviated schedule (click here for the schedule). We look forward to seeing everyone on Aug. 15!
