Eneye Gbedee Is A NHS Semifinalist
Voyager Academy Student Awarded Prestigious National Honor Society Scholarship
The National Honor Society (NHS) announced that Eneye Gbedee, a high school senior at Voyager Academy and member of NHS, has been selected as an NHS Scholarship semifinalist.
Since 1946, more than $21 million in scholarships have been awarded to outstanding NHS senior members to support college access and student success. The scholarship program is supported by the parent organization of NHS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
In the 100+ years since NHS was founded in 1921, members have been making a difference in their schools and communities, and the NHS Scholarship is NASSP’s way of recognizing the most exceptional of these student leaders. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Eneye has exceeded our expectations at VAHS, and we are excited to see where her future takes her. This fall, she will attend Rice to study neuroscience.
For more information about the NHS, visit www.nhs.us.
Congratulations Eneye!

Stay Up To The Minute On How Your VAHS Student Is Doing In Each Class
As you know, VAHS uses the learning management system called, Canvas. Learning management systems are used widely in high schools and colleges/universities around the world. Students use Canvas to access course materials, manage an assignment calendar, submit assignments including homework, quizzes, tests, and projects, communicate with teachers, and collaborate with their peers. Canvas is also a multimedia platform, allowing for many different methods of instruction. All grades are posted on Canvas.
One of the great features of Canvas is one that enables a parent/guardian to stay up to the minute with a student’s progress and participation in a class, as a “Parent Observer.” As a Parent Observer, you can also receive email notifications about grades and assignments.
