SPRING FLING DATE:

MAKING A DIFFERENCE:  Our third-grade students at Voyager Academy Elementary are doing a "Make a Difference" project. On Wednesday, they attended a community outreach fair in the gym to learn more about different organizations in the Durham community.  There were over 15 vendors that participated in the learning process with our students. The students learned about what the organization is trying to accomplish, how they get their word out, and what they can do to help the organization.  The students all took grocery bags for a food drive collection for Urban Ministries. The hope is that the students will help stock the food pantry for the summer. During the summer months, need for food pantry services increases significantly for families, as schools (and their free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs) are closed for the summer.   If you can, please purchase the requested items on the flyer and place their filled bags in the UMD bins at school by Friday, April 28th.

END OF YEAR MCLASS ASSESSMENTS:  Students in grades K-3 will begin completing their end of the year reading assessment April 18-May 9.  It is time for the students to show us all they have learned this year.

BULL CITY ANTHEM:  Hello! The kids are getting so excited about meeting the musician, Kaydrom Mims, who wrote "Bull City Anthem"! He will be coming to sing to 3rd graders on April 27th. The students will receive a positive message reminding them how they can make a difference in their community.
