Voyager Academy Middle School News, April 21, 2023

     Hi Middle School Families,

I hope all of you enjoyed Spring Break and had the opportunity to

have fun with your children.  It didn’t take long to get back in the flow of

teaching and learning!  Students came back ready to learn.

We welcome Altrenna Patterson to Voyager Middle School.  We are so

fortunate to have her at the middle school as she is our Tech Person

from now until the end of this school year.  By the way, she is awesome!

Teachers had the opportunity to have a workday prior to the students

returning. We had meetings with parents, and CPI training for certain

Staff.  Since our return we had some students bowling,  a Field Trip on

the large field as Camp Flintlock shared lots of information with our

fifth graders. We also had several parents join us and share their

career with students.  Students who are part of Matilda The Musical

have spent many hours practicing.  Matilda is Friday, April 21, Saturday

April 22, Sunday April 23, and Monday, April 24.  Hope to see you there!

Mrs. Locke’s class has learned how to have a successful debate.  The

students spent much time researching their topic in order to debate their

Topic and win the debate.  They all did a great job!  We also had parents

talk with our 7th graders sharing their career choice.

Shark Tank is coming!  Our students are in the process of creating their

scripts.  I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing from several of the

students as they are putting the finishing touches on their presentation.

I need some help from some of you regarding computers.  We

really need our 6th, 7th and 8th graders to bring their computers

and especially during our EOG testing.  If they have a problem with

their computer we can usually take care of the problem and it is

usually too many games on the computer.

Student Recognition for March - Great job by our students!

  • Visual Arts: Alora Fox, Jamin Smith

  • Performing Arts:  Sean Stewart, Gabi Mebane

  • Athletes of the Month:  Abi Anderson, Troy Cuellar

  • Voyager Core Value of the Month(Integrity): Asher Densmore, Vivien Page

PARKING SPACES

Please do not park in one of the numbered parking spaces.  All of the spaces that are numbered are for the staff.  The spaces at the MS are in front of the MS, in front of the soccer field, in front of the Hock House and around the edge of the pond.  The space may be empty when you arrive but remember the spaces are for the staff even if they have not arrived before you have arrived.  Thanks so much for not parking in the numbered spaces. !

Attendance Info

Help,  the attendance committee will meet on Tuesday and  we will be contacting some of you regarding students not being in school and/or getting to school late.  When your child is sick, please email us so we will know why your student is absent or send a doctor’s note. Several of you received an email or a call regarding your child’s lateness and/or absences. We recognize that many of our students have been sick and we understand why they are not at school.  It is helpful if you send a note regarding attendance or send a doctor’s note if possible.  If we do not hear from you we usually mark it unexcused.

Student Support Services Newsletter: If you haven’t already, please check out our first edition of “Connections” (link below) - your new, quarterly Student Support Services Newsletter! Connections will provide parents and caregivers with relevant content focused around our school-aged children (K-12). Afterwards, we welcome you to complete a short survey to let the Student Support Services Team know how we can improve Connections or if we met your needs in a satisfactorily manner. Your feedback is important to us!

Please continue to check PowerSchool as we are in the fourth nine weeks.

Great News. Summer enrichment is here. Registration is open now open until April 14th. The process will look a little different from Fall and Spring enrichment sign up. Enrichments will be offered Monday through Thursday for 3 weeks during  the month of June.  Beginning June 5th and ending June 22nd.  There will be 3 different session times offered depending on the individual enrichment. There will be a google form used to register for each individual enrichment. Each enrichment must meet the minimum number of participants before payment will be assigned in Titan. You will receive an email letting you know that your student is being placed on the roster, based on a first come first served basis. You will have until April 14th to make the payment. If your payment is not made your spot will be forfeited and will be given to the next student. Please go to our website to see a full description of each enrichment.

The Titan Family Portal and LINQ Online Ordering system work together like a checking/ debit card account.  All student lunch accounts must be preloaded with funds for ordering.  Parents then order lunches for students based on the funds availability in their Titan account. Families who have a negative balance on the account will no longer be permitted to order lunch online. Please be sure to send your student(s) to school with lunch if no meal was ordered. If your student's lunch account currently has a negative balance, we please ask that you pay this balance as soon as possible by either form of payment:

Online at  https://family.titank12.com  There is a $2.80 flat fee charged by the bank per deposit online. (Example: $100 deposit + $2.80 fee = $102.80)

A check/ money order made payable to Voyager Academy. Please include your child's name and id# on the memo line. You can also use this pre-printed form.
