Voyager Academy Middle School News, April 28, 2023

     Hi Middle School Families,

Wow, what a busy week! Our students spent much time after school and  on weekends preparing for the Musical Matilda!  The students performed Friday the 21st, Saturday the 22nd, Sunday the 23rd, and Monday the

24th.  Each show was sold out!  The students were fabulous. All of the

performances were great!  A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. Thompson and

     to Ms. Wicker.

Hopefully you received the message that Spring Fling will not take place

on Friday afternoon due to the weather forecast.   The plan is for Spring

Fling to move from Friday to Saturday. The time of Spring Fling is

5:30 - 8:00.  Hope to see you there!

Our 8th graders traveled to Raleigh on April 25.  They left around 8:00 as

they traveled on a chartered bus.  From what I heard the students

     enjoyed their trip.

On Wednesday, April 26, several of our rising 8th graders were inducted

Into the National Junior Honor Society. Students needed to have a 95 or

above for their grades.  In order to be part of the induction, the students

could not have a discipline referral.  I look forward to the projects the

students decide upon. Our current National Junior Honor Society group

has been awesome as they supported a Food Drive, Collected Toys,

provided breakfast for the teachers, put up

Voyager is in the process of selecting Voyager’s Teacher of the Year and

Voyager’s Outstanding Young Educator.  I’m sure the decision will

     be a challenge.

We welcome Altrenna Patterson to Voyager Middle School.  We are so

fortunate to have her at the middle school as she is our Tech Person

from now until the end of this school year.  By the way, she is awesome!

Mrs. Locke’s class has learned how to have a successful debate.  They

are now learning how to interview.  They are also learning what type of

questions you would ask one when you want to learn about a job

     Candidate.

Our 6th graders have published a book and are selling the book.  I look

      forward to reading the book.

Shark Tank is here!  I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing from

several students as they were preparing for their presentation!

Student Recognition for March - Great job by our students!

PARKING SPACES

Please do not park in one of the numbered parking spaces.  All of the spaces that are numbered are for the staff.  The spaces at the MS are in front of the MS, in front of the soccer field, in front of the Hock House and around the edge of the pond.  The space may be empty when you arrive but remember the spaces are for the staff even if they have not arrived before you have arrived.  Thanks so much for not parking in the numbered spaces. !

Great News. Summer enrichment is here. Registration is open now open until April 14th. The process will look a little different from Fall and Spring enrichment sign up. Enrichments will be offered Monday through Thursday for 3 weeks during  the month of June.  Beginning June 5th and ending June 22nd.  There will be 3 different session times offered depending on the individual enrichment. There will be a google form used to register for each individual enrichment. Each enrichment must meet the minimum number of participants before payment will be assigned in Titan. You will receive an email letting you know that your student is being placed on the roster, based on a first come first served basis. You will have until April 14th to make the payment. If your payment is not made your spot will be forfeited and will be given to the next student. Please go to our website to see a full description of each enrichment.

The Titan Family Portal and LINQ Online Ordering system work together like a checking/ debit card account.  All student lunch accounts must be preloaded with funds for ordering.  Parents then order lunches for students based on the funds availability in their Titan account. Families who have a negative balance on the account will no longer be permitted to order lunch online. Please be sure to send your student(s) to school with lunch if no meal was ordered. If your student's lunch account currently has a negative balance, we please ask that you pay this balance as soon as possible by either form of payment:

Online at  https://family.titank12.com  There is a $2.80 flat fee charged by the bank per deposit online. (Example: $100 deposit + $2.80 fee = $102.80)

A check/ money order made payable to Voyager Academy. Please include your child's name and id# on the memo line. You can also use this pre-printed form.
