Thanks
to all of you who donated gift cards for Smith Academy in Houston, Texas. The gift cards have been shipped to the
principal of Smith Academy to distribute to the families in need. I know there will be lots of smiles and probably
some tears when the box full of gift cards totaling $4298 is opened. What a great job by the entire Voyager
Academy community!
The
first quarter has been a terrific one!
There has been much learning taking place in each and every classroom.
The students have put forth lots of effort to do their best on all
assignments. I am proud of our students
and all they have accomplished this first quarter. I am also proud of the teachers and the
quality lessons that have been prepared for our students. The middle school is a great place to be!

THIS WEEK IN 8TH GRADE SCIENCE
Students presented their Energy Proposals in science class this
week. Ask your student which renewable energy source is best for NC's
future. Students should be able to give you plenty of advantages and
disadvantages of various energy sources.
We also reviewed physical and chemical changes with a card sort
activity. We used Kahoot!, a web-based game, to review before Friday's
quiz. Students did a great job with this review game.

FALL BREAK BASKETBALL
SKILLS CAMP
Voyager Basketball
Coach Mike Huff is offering a 3-day basketball skills camp for boys and girls
in grades 3-8 Monday-Wednesday of fall break. Camp runs
from 9:00-12:00, with early drop-off available for a small extra
fee. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact
Coach Huff at mhuff@voyageracademy.net.
A big thank you to the
parent who donated umbrellas for our carline staff to use. We will certainly put them to use during the
rainy days. Your kindness is
appreciated!
On Thursday, Oct. 5,
Mr. Price and Mrs. Miller, Mina, Peyton, Landon, and Bryce attended an
educational banquet in Raleigh. This
sixth grade group presented their Space Colony project. It appeared that Voyager’s sixth graders were
the only middle school students attending the meeting and banquet. There were other students presenting but the
students were from various high schools.
Our students had the opportunity to talk with and share information with
Governor Cooper! What a terrific
opportunity for our students as well as Mr. Price and Mrs. Miller. Way to go!!!!
