2018-19 COURSE SELECTION TAKES PLACE MONDAY 2/26!
Freshman and Sophomore students will login to their PowerSchool accounts during Advisory on Monday, 2/26. They will select the 8 courses in which they would like to enroll during 2018-19 (with 2 alternates). They used Overgrad to complete their high school Course Planners.
Parents are encouraged to review their students' 2018-19 course selection progress.
Overgrad is an extremely useful tool for high school, career and and college planning. We hope that all families get involved to make the best educational decisions for our students!

VOYAGER WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM BREAKS ANOTHER RECORD
The Varsity Women’s basketball team broke a school record yet again by making it to the state tournament. They travelled this past Tuesday to Manteo, a town in the outer banks. After a four hour bus ride, the ladies fought hard against the Redskins. Unfortunately, the game did not end in their favor. The ladies are already looking forward to next season, however, using this record-breaking year as momentum to go even farther in the future! Go Vikings Go!

VIKING NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY NEWS
NHS is excited to announce the launch of our new website! You can access the website from the VAHS homepage or simply click here and bookmark it for future viewing. We are excited to be working with the VAES again to bring back the “Buddy Program” in which the students can work in the classrooms with students and teachers and build lasting relationships. We are getting ready to work with the Ronald McDonald house here in Durham to serve meals to families in April or May. We recently worked with the Woodward family to coordinate the sending of much needed supplies to those affected by the hurricane in Puerto Rico and we would like to thank everyone who donated.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT STUDENT HEALTH
As you may or may not be aware, “vaping” and/or "juuling"(the use of E-cigarettes) has become an unhealthy trend among children and young adults, from middle through high school nationwide. As the safety and health of our students is a top priority at VAHS, all students received a presentation on Feb. 13th about the effects of this unhealthy activity, as well as the Voyager Academy consequences.
To see the presentation that the students received this morning, please click here. Parents/guardians are encouraged to reinforce this very important message at home.
As always, thank you so much for your continued support.
