VAES Families,
Welcome: Welcome to a whole new world of learning! We have begun this year in an amazing way. Our teachers are excited and ready to teach and our students are eager and willing to learn. Thank you to every family who has worked so diligently to ensure every student has academic, social, and emotional success. I have been able to meet many of the students via their morning Zoom meeting and hope to meet every student within the next two weeks. Voyager Academy is an amazing place of learning and I appreciate the students displaying our core values of Confidence, Empathy, Integrity, Reflection, and Curiosity.
Curriculum Night: Thank you to every parent who was able to attend our 1-3 grade curriculum night on August 20. I hope you find the session informative and encouraging. If you were not able to attend the session, please reach out to your child’s teacher and they will be honored to update you. Curriculum Night for our kindergarten families will be scheduled for the first week of September.
Pick-Up and Drop Off: Do you know where to drop off student work and pick up new student work? Each grade level has plastic bins that are placed outside of the elementary school. Please place your child’s work inside the bin associated with your teacher. Each student should have a folder inside the bin that has your child’s name. Simply, pick up any new work your teacher has left for you and place the completed work in the folder. If you have any questions, you may always contact your child’s teacher or any of the office staff members. We are here to help you.
Communication: I understand that parents need to know what is happening within our school community. I will strive to send out weekly family updates via SCHOOL MESSENGER. If you are not getting weekly messages from me, please call the school office at 919-433-3301 and Ms. Karen will make sure you are added to our list. We will also use the REMIND app this year. I will be sending out your grade level code for this feature soon. If you will join the remind group for your grade level then you will not miss important Voyager information.
Grandparent and Grand Friends Day: VAES would like to take a moment to honor grandparents and special grand friends as part of the National Grandparents Day Celebration that takes place on Sept. 13. Be looking for fun details from your child’s teacher and from the music teacher as we plan to honor these special people in our lives.
BOG for 3rd Graders: Voyager will be hosting the Beginning of Grade Testing for all 3rd grade students on August 25-26. Each 3rd grader should have received information from their child’s teacher to inform you of the date and time your child will need to arrive on campus for this test. All CDC guidelines will be followed as we host this state testing session. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher or Mr. Manning.
Thank you: I wanted to take a brief moment to say thank you to each of you for providing me such a warm welcome to VAES. It is an honor to be your principal and I look forward to serving you for years to come. If I can ever be of assistance, please feel free to email me at tmanning@voyageracademy.net.
