Driver's Ed Information
The next Driver Education for non-DPS students will be offered January 30-February 17, 2023. Classes meet each Monday - Friday for these 15 days.
Students may enroll in the morning class 6:15-8:15 am or 4:30-6:30 pm.
Classes fill up VERY quickly. Registration will be Saturday, January 21 at 9:00 am. To register, go to the DPS website and click on Driver Education.
To enroll in the class, the STUDENT (not the parent) needs to have a personal gmail email account (not a school account). These are free of charge. If the student does not already have one, it is very advantageous to set this up prior to registration.
Google classroom invitations will be sent out the week of January 23.
The cost of the class is $45 and must be paid by Friday, February 3. The instructor will go over how to submit payment on the first day of class.
Please contact Robin Derr, Robin_Derr@dpsnc.net, with questions.

Looking for a part time job?
Do you happen to know of any colleagues who may be looking for some afternoon work and who would be interested in working with a student with special needs? The job would be helping him achieve his out-of-school goals and just generally hang out with him. Please contact Mr. Whitney at (919)-416-1683 for more information.

Let's Go to Spain
The Spanish Honor Society at VAHS is planning a trip to Spain soon after the end of the Spring semester. Foreign travel has been shown to be an extremely valuable experience for high school students. Our trip also has a mechanism that will allow our travelers to earn high school and/or college credit. All VAHS students and their siblings are welcome and encouraged to come along with us. Please check http://www.explorica.com/Bankhead-9316 for some initial information. I'll also be glad to share a PowerPoint that has more information with you if you email me, and you can always address any questions you have to sbankhead@voyageracademy.net. We have started raising money for the trip, and if you're interested in going, you are more than welcome to join us in our money-raising efforts.

Stay Up To The Minute On How Your VAHS Student Is Doing In Each Class
As you know, VAHS uses the learning management system called, Canvas. Learning management systems are used widely in high schools and colleges/universities around the world. Students use Canvas to access course materials, manage an assignment calendar, submit assignments including homework, quizzes, tests, and projects, communicate with teachers, and collaborate with their peers. Canvas is also a multimedia platform, allowing for many different methods of instruction. All grades are posted on Canvas.
One of the great features of Canvas is one that enables a parent/guardian to stay up to the minute with a student’s progress and participation in a class, as a “Parent Observer.” As a Parent Observer, you can also receive email notifications about grades and assignments.
