Voyager Academy Middle School News, March 31, 2023

     Hi Middle School Families,

A huge THANK YOU for getting our students to school on time.  We had very few students who were tardy which means they completed their   Check Ins when the class was administered check ins.  I’m very proud of the growth that students have and are making.  Based on the majority of the third quarter report cards, many of our students increased in grades from the second quarter to the third quarter.   Let’s keep up the good work of getting students to school on time and finish strong!!!!

I do need some help from some of you regarding computers.  We really need our 6th, 7th and 8th graders to bring their computers and especially during our EOG testing.  If they have a problem with their computer we can usually take care of the problem and it is usually too many games on the computer.

Here is the CDC COVID-19 Community Level to be included in your principal’s communication for the week of 3/27-4/2.

Our CDC COVID-19 Community Level is: LOW

  • People may choose to wear a mask for any reason at any time.

  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines, including recommended booster doses.

  • People with a positive test for COVID-19 MUST wear a mask for 10 days.

  • People with symptoms or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask and get tested.

Middle School Upcoming Sports   Our baseball team is in full swing.  They played Thursday and had a 6-2 victory.   They played well.  Their home games will be played at Butner Athletic Field and they actually have a home game today..  Our softball team begins play in the near future also and their home games will be played at Bull City Little League.  Hopefully you all will be able to watch a game or two.  Our girls soccer team is off to a great start.  They are 3-0 and they play again on Monday at Aycock Recreation Center and play Henderson Collegiate.

Just another reminder!!!!!

PARKING SPACES

Please do not park in one of the numbered parking spaces.  All of the spaces that are numbered are for the staff.  The spaces at the MS are in front of the MS, in front of the soccer field, in front of the Hock House and around the edge of the pond.  The space may be empty when you arrive but remember the spaces are for the staff even if they have not arrived before you have arrived.  Thanks so much for not parking in the numbered spaces. !

Attendance Info

Help,  the attendance committee will meet on Tuesday and  we will be contacting some of you regarding students not being in school and/or getting to school late.  When your child is sick, please email us so we will know why your student is absent or send a doctor’s note. Several of you received an email or a call regarding your child’s lateness and/or absences. We recognize that many of our students have been sick and we understand why they are not at school.  It is helpful if you send a note regarding attendance or send a doctor’s note if possible.  If we do not hear from you we usually mark it unexcused.

Student Support Services Newsletter: If you haven’t already, please check out our first edition of “Connections” (link below) - your new, quarterly Student Support Services Newsletter! Connections will provide parents and caregivers with relevant content focused around our school-aged children (K-12). Afterwards, we welcome you to complete a short survey to let the Student Support Services Team know how we can improve Connections or if we met your needs in a satisfactorily manner. Your feedback is important to us!

CAR LINE REMINDER:  I want to remind everyone that it is very important to strive to follow all car line procedures so that we keep everyone safe.  If we all would just follow procedures, the carline would run even smoother and more quickly.  Recently, we have had an issue with cars not waiting in the car line and trying to get back in the line at the road between the elementary school and the high school.  We have now placed our SRO at this location to help remind everyone of the importance of staying in line and waiting their turn.  We also have parents who are being rude to each other in hopes to move one position.  PLEASE be kind to each other!!!!!

There will be a google form used to register for each individual enrichment. Each enrichment must meet the minimum number of participants before payment will be assigned in Titan. You will receive an email letting you know that your student is being placed on the roster, based on a first come first served basis. You will have until April 14th to make the payment. If your payment is not made your spot will be forfeited and will be given to the next student. Please go to our website to see a full description of each enrichment.

The Titan Family Portal and LINQ Online Ordering system work together like a checking/ debit card account.  All student lunch accounts must be preloaded with funds for ordering.  Parents then order lunches for students based on the funds availability in their Titan account. Families who have a negative balance on the account will no longer be permitted to order lunch online. Please be sure to send your student(s) to school with lunch if no meal was ordered. If your student's lunch account currently has a negative balance, we please ask that you pay this balance as soon as possible by either form of payment:

Online at  https://family.titank12.com  There is a $2.80 flat fee charged by the bank per deposit online. (Example: $100 deposit + $2.80 fee = $102.80)

A check/ money order made payable to Voyager Academy. Please include your child's name and id# on the memo line. You can also use this pre-printed form.
