VISIT THE OUTDOOR CLASSROOM!
We were at it again this weekend. WRAL
has given us 50 azaleas and we were out planting this weekend. Come take
a look at the space and see the outdoor classroom come together. Each
week, it gets closer to completion. A big thank you to Brian, Zeke,
Reyan, Jerry, Caleb, Marla, Keegan, Tanner, Cole, Jules and Dillon for
helping out the past few weeks. Their work and some generous donations
have gotten us closer to our goal! We are a couple of tables shy of
having a classroom! Thanks for all the help!

THE VAHS GARDEN
Ms.
Nguyen and Mr. Mills ran the immersion project for the students who remained at
school last year. They converted the
grass area outside of Hoch House into a garden.
The garden grew peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, lettuce and herbs. It was
greatly successful for the remainder of the year as Ms. Koerner used it
for ingredients in cooking class. As
school has restarted, the garden has wound down and this week is being
replanted by Ms. Koerner’s class.

AP BIOLOGY & APES FIELD TRIP: OFF TO MARINE QUEST AT CMS IN WILMINGTON!
The AP Biology and APES class are going to be taking an exciting 2 day
field trip on Oct 30th and 31st to Wilmington, NC. While there we will be
spending the day with the folks at the Center for Marine Sciences at UNCW and
taking part in their Marine Quest program. The students will be able to wade in
the marsh to collect macroinvertebrate samples, look at the health of the local
sea life, go kayaking, tour the facility, and have lunch with the students that
run the program. Then on the second day there the students will be touring Fort
Fisher Aquarium and UNCW main campus.
The students are VERY excited about this opportunity as are Mr. Ingram and myself. I am currently working to have the orgs.online payment system setup to begin taking payments so please watch for the link by early next week. We will need 3 parent chaperones and will take them on a first come first serve basis.
Please feel free to email me with any questions at chuntington@voyageracademy.net
Thanks!!
