From the Managing Director's Desk, Feb. 18, 2018

Dear Viking Families,
This was a very difficult week for many families and staff as we suffered with those in Florida and worried about our children and our own well-being in school. A place that is deisnged to be the safest for our future has become unpredictable and scary, but please know that we are truly engaged and prepared as best as we can be.
We have had professional active shooter and crisis management training from our amazing local law enforcement and we have lockdown and crisis plans in place that are recommended and approved by law enforcement and they include “run, hide, fight.  Most of the plan is related to protecting as many as you can once there is a breach; contacting law enforcement and letting them do their jobs so we can reconnect students to families after.  The school has an emergency/crisis plan that is shared with staff. It was updated as we completed the building and changed staff and law enforcement. Students will begin practicing drills more frequently, and we remind you all to sign up for the emergency remind text messages sent out each year.  As always we remain vigilant and aware of warning signs. Help us in this endeavor if you see or hear anything concerning. Beyond that, we intend to make sure our students feel safe and loved and ready to learn each day moving forward.

We received exciting news from our athletic department this weekend in that our wrestling program continues to grow and compete big in this state! The wrestling program had another great year; finishing the season this weekend at the 1A State Championship held at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Congratulations to the wrestling program and to the following standouts performers from this weekend Senior Isaiah Bryant placed 3rd at 132 pound weight class.  Junior, State Champion, Jacari Deal who claimed the 170 pound championship with a dominating 3-0 decision in the finals.
Thank you so much to Ms. Wilder and her team of volunteers in our Friday night dance! There are many pictures and videos  posted of the event on the Facebook pages which cover our social and team events. So many families had a wonderful time, the talent shows were a blast and the chocolate fountain was the big hit!
