Voyager Academy Science Olympiad News, Feb. 18, 2018

DIVISION A
Hello, A team!  I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend.

Here's today's updates:
  • Next open practice - our next open practice is Saturday 2/24, from 9am-noon at the high school.
  • Work It Out study questions needed!  As everyone is studying in with their partners, please pull out 2-3 of your key study questions (with examples and answers) for the Work It Out event team to study with.  They have to cover the knowledge from ALL the events, so key questions from everyone as you study will be really helpful.
  • OPEN TEAM SPOTS -  we still have room on both the varsity and JV teams for students interested in trying on event.  It would be great to get one or two students who love science on board!  Get your students to recruit their friends!  If you know someone who's interested, please have them send an email to the team (scienceolympiadteama@voyageracademy.net).
  • Team T shirts - the T shirts are on order!  We're hoping to have them by the end of the month, and will distribute them out at open practices.
  • Team info - check the webpage! - don't forget to use the regional team webpage to keep up with key dates and NCSO tournament info.
  • Tournament and showcase volunteers needed! We could use some parent volunteers for the Science Night showcase on Tuesday, March 27th, AND for the regional tournament on April 14th.  Science experience not necessary.  ALL these events run thanks to volunteers, so if you are able to help, that would be great.  Please let me know if you'd be interested as s volunteer for those dates!  We'll also post volunteer links for these events closer to time.

DIVISION B

The regional tournament is less than two weeks away!  Where should you be at this point?!
  • Making good progress on notebooks and notes sheets & using these tools on practice tests (see SO Wiki Test Exchange!).
  • Moving from prototypes to final product for building events & collecting data (if required).
  • Feeling confident and excited about your event!

---

IMPORTANT...don't get disqualified on a technicality:
  • Check the NCSO Resources page to see if there have been rules clarifications or updates to your event.
  • Double check your event rules sheet to make sure you didn't miss anything!

TEAM FEES

Team fees are $35.  Checks should be made out to Voyager Academy.  If you haven't paid your team fees yet, give your check to Connie Vance at the next practice.
