From the Managing Director's Desk, March 25, 2018

Dear Viking Families,
We hope you all had a wonderful week on campus and in the many field trips that went out this week. We are especially excited about our show chorus performing in Florida this weekend! (SEE BELOW) All students had the pleasure of hearing them perform on Tuesday and what an amazing show it was! We are so proud of these students and our teachers who have made it possible! Thank you to Ms. Hobgood and Mr. Puhala!

Speaking of great teaching, I would like to recognize our nominees for Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Young Educator of the Year in no particular order:
Amanda Trump Max Puhala, Doug Price, Carlyn Fowler, Dennis Baker and Meghan Taylor.
Over the next couple of weeks, an outstanding team of instructional experts will observe and interview all our candidates and ultimately select the 2 educators who will represent Voyager in the local and state level competitions. We are so proud to have these 6 teachers on our staff and we wish each of them success in moving forward. Regardless of the final outcome, please join me in celebrating these teachers and their success and commitment to our students!
Save the date for our VAES Science Night on Tuesday, March 27 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the elementary school.  There will be fun activities and we are thrilled that Duke Chemistry Outreach will return with their programs and expertise!!  All ages are welcome to attend; however, students must be accompanied by an adult.
Please remember to note that all High School students MUST attend school ALL DAY on Monday March 26th to make up for the lost instructional time.  Please make sure all students are prepared to stay at the HS full day until regular dismissal time.

BULL CITY LIGHTS PERFORMS IN ORLANDO
Bull City Lights & Sound traveled to Orlando this weekend for the Heart of America Show Choir competition & did an amazing job. They placed 3rd runner up in Open Division Show choir! Due to recent events, the group decided to add a tribute to students around the world during the song “All That Matters”, which brought the audience & judges to tears.

The chorus & band are so thankful for the overwhelming support they’ve received throughout the year from the entire Viking community. The lessons these students have learned and the memories made will last a lifetime.
