NEWS FROM ELEMENTARY: Can you believe the end of the school year is in sight? The following announcements will be helpful for you and your family for the week of May 15-19.
TALENT SHOW: VAES will be hosting an in-school talent show on May 23. This will take place during the student’s elective period. If you would like for your child to share a talent with their classmates, please click on the link below. Mrs. Sawyer can only accept 10 talent acts per grade level.

SPRING PICTURES: Spring Photos have been sent home. Please review the photos and decide if you would like to keep the photos or return them. All photos or payments must be received by Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
Review the picture sheets and price flyer (every student received a packet of pictures)
Choose which picture sheets you would like to purchase.
Purchase the picture sheets by submitting your payment in the provided envelope or pay online at www.strawbridge.net. Click order pictures and enter the code found on your price flyer.
Return any unpurchased photos to the school by May 17th.
SPECIAL SHIRT NEEDED: The elective teachers are planning something extra special for all students. In order for the surprise to be as effective as possible, we are requesting that all students wear a white or neon shirt to school on Monday, May 22. If you cannot do this we understand, but it would be very helpful if possible. Remember–this is a surprise for our students!
EOG TESTING: Our 3rd graders have completed the NC math and reading End of Grade Tests! They have worked so hard and we are very proud of them. Thank you parents for making sure everyone had a solid breakfast and arrived at school on time. EOG results will arrive shortly and we will provide families with details as soon as possible.
MORNING CARLINE: Thank you for remembering that families are not allowed to park at the high school and walk over to the elementary school. Everyone should participate in car line. This keeps everyone safe and allows our carl line to move more efficiently.
AFTERNOON CAR LINE: Thank you for remembering that families who need to pick up a student early, must do so by 2:15 pm. After 2:15 all families must utilize the car line for pick up.
THANK YOU VOYAGER FAMILIES: Thank you to every Voyager family member who has provided food, teacher coverage, encouragement and support during this year. You guys have truly been amazing and we are blessed to partner with you.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: May 24th is our last day of school. Students will be dismissed at 11:15 on this date. There will be NO aftercare offered on this date. ALL students must be picked up at 11:15 am.
TEACHER OF THE YEAR: We are pleased to announce the elementary teacher of the year–elementary teaching assistant of the year and elementary young educator of the year. Please join me in congratulating these amazing teachers.

MRS. FLOWE-DAWSON IS RETIRING: Voyager families, Mrs. Marie Flowe-Dawson will be officially retiring at the end of this school year. She is an incredible PE teacher and your students LOVE her. I wanted to give you all an opportunity to reach out to Mrs. Dawson to thank her for her many years of service. She has indeed helped our students learn that it is important and fun to be physically active!
READ TO ACHIEVE CAMP: Read to Achieve Camp is available to qualifying 3rd grade students this summer. If your child needs to attend this camp, parents will receive a letter from the school. The dates and times for Read to Achieve Camp are: June 5-22 from 9:00 to 1:30 (Monday -Thursday).
FIELD TRIPS: We have several end of the year field trips coming up. It is awesome to take learning on the road!

CHICK-FIL-A READING CHALLENGE: We are so honored to partner with Chick-Fil-A on Roxboro St. They will be giving a FREE gift card to students every month who read 15 books. The May challenge has begun. As your child reads or you read to your child, please record the books on the reading log and return it to your child’s teacher once you have 15 books listed. Your child can earn one free gift card per month.
MONDAY’S SCHEDULE: Each and every Monday, Voyager will dismiss students at 12:45 pm. Since our staff attend meetings every Monday, it is imperative that students are picked up on time.
UPDATE FROM SCHOOL NURSE: Our CDC COVID-19 Community Level is: LOW
People may choose to wear a mask for any reason at any time.
People with a positive test for COVID-19 MUST wear a mask for 10 days.
People with symptoms or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask and get tested.
