From the Voyager Academy Managing Director, Dec. 31, 2017

Dear Viking Families,

Happy New Year! We are so excited to see you all for this bright new year and hope you all had a wonderful holiday break with your families. Before we left we had many team and leadership meetings to talk about our Viking Pride and how to increase school spirit for our students and staff. Moving forward, every Friday will be Voyager Pride day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite Voyager Viking spirit wear or school colors in red white and blue. Principals will be on the lookout for the students and teachers with the most school spirit and those special people will receive a surprise gift. We can’t wait to see everyone in their Voyager gear! Go Vikings!

Our Student Council officers and NJHS visitors our elderly friends. They learned much about our friends as the middle school students spent time talking with them. They also sang carols with them. What a heartwarming time!

Dear VAMS Families,

First, let me say how proud I am of the Voyager Middle School families! This year we had a Giving Tree in the lobby full of tags that indicated items that children need. The children are Voyager Middle School students. I am happy to share with you that all tags were selected, gifts purchased, and placed under the tree. Each day I smile as I think about the children who will receive the gifts and how happy each child will be.

Dear Viking Families,

It was a great week on campus and we only have a couple weeks to go before the long holiday break. Hopefully you saw our message inviting any qualified VA students to take a private drivers ed course during break from Jan 2-6th at the VA high school.  If you are interested, please email me directly as this course needs at least 10 participants to remain open.

Voyager Academy Elementary School News, Dec. 10, 2017

Dear VAES Families,

Thank you for your kindness and generosity!  There are no more tags on our special “Giving Tree” and we are collecting the gifts.  Gifts must be turned in wrapped to the elementary school by Monday, December 11th.  The tag has a special label on it you can use to mark who is to receive the gift.

Voyager Academy Middle School News, Dec. 10, 2017

Dear VAMS Families,

This has been a very busy week.  All of our students participated in Language Arts/reading and math benchmarks.  The students worked hard and put forth their best effort.  We should receive our reports next week.  Our data will be used to determine individual strengths and weaknesses as well as diving into the vocabulary that students need to know.  In Language Arts, we will determine the types of questions that are easy for our students and the types of questions that need more work.  Our math results will identify standards that need more explanation as well as provide examples of multi-step word problems that are often difficult for students because they do not read the entire problem.

Dear VAES Families,

This year, we have our special “Giving Tree” in the front office of the elementary school.  On it are tags for families in need.  The tag has information about the child's size, age, and gender.  If you would like to show empathy and generosity to a child in need, please come get a tag and purchase a gift.  Gifts must be turned in wrapped to the elementary school by Monday, December 11th.  The tag has a special label on it you can use to mark who is to receive the gift.

Voyager Academy Middle School News, Dec. 3, 2017

DEAR VAMS FAMILIES,

I cannot believe that we are now in December and in the final weeks of the first semester.  Next week we will administer benchmarks in reading and math.  Once we receive the reports, our teachers will analyze the data to determine the level of learning of each student in order to determine our strong areas and our areas of need.  It’s extremely important for our students to be on time as benchmarks will start immediately after the 8:15 announcements.  If they are not in their class when benchmarks begin, they will have to wait until the benchmarks are completed before going to class.  Please make sure your children are on time – meaning students are in class when the 8:15 bell rings!
