Dear Viking Families,
Happy New Year! We are so excited to see you all for this bright new year and hope you all had a wonderful holiday break with your families. Before we left we had many team and leadership meetings to talk about our Viking Pride and how to increase school spirit for our students and staff. Moving forward, every Friday will be Voyager Pride day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite Voyager Viking spirit wear or school colors in red white and blue. Principals will be on the lookout for the students and teachers with the most school spirit and those special people will receive a surprise gift. We can’t wait to see everyone in their Voyager gear! Go Vikings!

Dear VAMS Families,
First, let me say how proud I am of the Voyager Middle School families! This year we had a Giving Tree in the lobby full of tags that indicated items that children need. The children are Voyager Middle School students. I am happy to share with you that all tags were selected, gifts purchased, and placed under the tree. Each day I smile as I think about the children who will receive the gifts and how happy each child will be.

Dear VAMS Families,
This has been a very busy week. All of our students participated in Language
Arts/reading and math benchmarks. The
students worked hard and put forth their best effort. We should receive our reports next week. Our data will be used to determine individual
strengths and weaknesses as well as diving into the vocabulary that students
need to know. In Language Arts, we will
determine the types of questions that are easy for our students and the types
of questions that need more work. Our
math results will identify standards that need more explanation as well as
provide examples of multi-step word problems that are often difficult for
students because they do not read the entire problem.

to a child in need, please come get a tag and purchase a gift. Gifts must
be turned in wrapped to the elementary school by Monday, December 11th.

DEAR VAMS FAMILIES,
I cannot believe that we are now in December and in the final weeks of the first semester. Next week we will administer benchmarks in reading and math. Once we receive the reports, our teachers will analyze the data to determine the level of learning of each student in order to determine our strong areas and our areas of need. It’s extremely important for our students to be on time as benchmarks will start immediately after the 8:15 announcements. If they are not in their class when benchmarks begin, they will have to wait until the benchmarks are completed before going to class. Please make sure your children are on time – meaning students are in class when the 8:15 bell rings!

Dear VAMS Families,
We have noticed that more and more families are “cutting it close” and arriving later. This week we had at least 55 students who were tardy. Please leave your house 5 minutes earlier in order to have your child get to class on time. Our school day begins at 8:15. If your child is not in the classroom when the 8:15 tardy bell rings, they are marked tardy. Habitually arriving late is a disservice to your child as much instructional time is missed as well as it puts them behind the entire day. Thank you for your help and support with this very important issue!

She is a wonderful teacher and we could not agree more with her selection.

STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR DEVICES TO SCHOOL
Voyager Academy requires that every student in grades 7-12 have his or her own laptop for use in school and at home as a part of our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. Students use their computers extensively for academic purposes. Most software, resources, and services that students utilize are cloud-based and accessible via a modern web browser. Students use Google’s G Suite for office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc), so Microsoft Office is not required. Please make sure your student has his/her laptop and charger with him/her at all times.
